Post Covid since the deposit rules were relaxed 100s more investors borrowed. This number includes topups and refinances though.

How big of an impact?

Investor borrowers are still a smaller part of the market than home buyers. Still now where near the activity pre 2016. This does include refinances.

Solution for house prices

Might end up to be supply and possibly patience. With the Auckland Unitary Plan becoming more embedded after a fresh start in 2017. The supply is coming, look around Auckland and you are bound to see a new apartment developments or town houses.

Can we reverse house prices?

Our world works on credit creation – you can’t have that and reverse prices by much. A hammer and nail will never cost 1970s prices as money supply has changed and keeps changing.
