We were conducting some client care calls last year when we discovered that our mortgage client Mats Romo was lying in hospital. Two days earlier he had crushed his shoulder and arm. Mats was rather surprised that after 30 years of working on step ladders, it would be the second rung that would take him out, “when it happened it happened so fast”.
That moment led to six months of recovery mainly at home which was not pleasant but at least he did not have to be worried about money. “I was happy that I had my insurance” recalls Mats. Having taken a mortgage repayment insurance with the help of Vijay Singh (insurance advisor), Mats was able to claim on both the insurance and ACC at the same time. This is not possible with income protection insurance.
Now back on light duties at work Mats is grateful of Vijay’s persistent nature which led to him having cover in place and also appreciated Vijay taking the time to visit him in hospital.
