Is medicine covered in medical insurance since its a big part of treatment?

Surprisingly out of the 1,400,000 health insurance polices that might be active in NZ, guess how many have decent cover for medication? Well apparently one million of those policies only have less than $20,000 worth of medicine cover. Which means that most people with health insurance have access to government funded medication only.

Many modern medical insurance policies now carry more than $200,000 worth of cover for non-pharmac medication. This means treatment with medicines that may not be covered by the government.
