Its been a busy busy year for lending up 10%($20 billion) since last year, we kiwis now owe more than 220 billion in mortgages. The 12 months to the previous year 2015 saw an increase of $12 billion.
Weekly home loans stats show a dramatic decrease in the last few weeks however. Late September the banks were pumping out about $1.3 billion in weekly approvals which is around $100 million less than last year around the same time. This is dramatic as 2015 was around $300 million more than the same time in 2014.
